The Cosmic Spiral, a simplest in its conventional form known to be the origin of the universe. The internal symbol, the single spiral is positioned inside the double square (universe) represents the seed of life, is said to be the oldest symbol ever appeared in the world. Archeological records show, it has been used in Paleolithic times; however, there is an assumption that the mythic origins of its source goes as far as to Atlantian civilization. It has frequently been found in the various cultures throughout the world: Asia, Middle East, and the Western European hemisphere, particularly during the civilization of pre-dynastic Egypt, the Phoenicians, Scandinavia and ancient Greece. This symbol communicates through numerous visual forms; dominantly cuneiform, hieroglyphics, and pictographs which characterizes the dualistic but complementary principles of the universe. The whole is an enactment of the cosmic drama and pilgrimage of the soul. It is symbolic of the universal spirit, an imago mundi, an enclosing of the sacred space and trenchent to the universal center power, totality, the cosmic intelligence, and integration of all the primordial sources. Substantially, it is associated with water (purification), power (God's), and the independent movement (autonomous laws) that is often epitomized as the country that one returns to, the homeland, or a place that is worth returning to when one needs a fresh and better supply.
The internal aspect of the Cosmic Spiral, if evolved into the two spheres-below and above-signifies the soul's journey: initiation, integration, and return. It all plays within the micro/macro cosmic frame. It embodies the principles of expansion and contraction through changes in velocity, and the potential for simultaneous motion in either direction towards two extremities. According to C. G. Jung, this concept explains as "away from the conscious and towards the unconscious." On the spherical vortex of these extremities, the center and periphery, flow into each other; essentially, they are interchangeable. There are two approaches to the Divine conscious. One is an inward process of generation and integration, by a concentration into and through the center. The other is the outward pil grimage of Parsifal, Gilgamesh, or Jason. The essential unity of the two, the inward spiral of Bunyan's Pilgrim, is symbolic of the progress to the Celestial City, of Dante's climb to the summit of Mount Purgatory, and of Sudama's journey to the Golden City of Krishna as residing in a state of potency.
The prime function of this symbol Cosmic Spiral (Cosmic Return) in the Secret Alchemical Remedy is to enact "VOID," which will assimilate all the detremental karmic traits in the conscious and subconscious level to the original place of nothingness. In other words, it cuts the chain of causation, the cause (seed) of all tribulation. Principally, it dissolves the weeds to create the space for constructive purposes. Whether we see it or not, energy is flowing ceaselessly, binding us forever to the wheel of cause and effect. If the Law of Karma is nothing more than the Law of Consequences, then every seed one plants will eventually leaps and the cycle simply repeats itself as though, energy will returns as the rhythm of inhalation and exhalation. Whatever one visualizes within must one day manifest in the outer world. Inherent in every action is the taxation of its consequence. For action and reaction, beginning and ending, life and rebirth are like inseparable consequences that are ever polarized in life itself. This law of return operates and processes throughout the universe.
The tenebrous karmic substance in the subconscious is the ultimate cause of all human calamity; whether the issues are little or vast, the Law of Karma applies to every chapter of life. The more ponderous the karma is the greater the barrier of all times and it is perpetual, not only to the current concerns but also to the good that comes. However even this condition can be restored by cutting the chain of causation and live under the Divine grace of fulfillment.
