you specify, and where audio clipping and pops occur. </p>
<div class="section"><h4 class="sectiontitle">Video alerts</h4><p>If brightness levels are too high, digital
video becomes clipped, causing problems that you can’t correct in
postproduction. Adjust the camera settings to place the brightest
levels safely below the clipping point. The Camera Setup Assistant
panel, Waveform Monitor, and zebras enable you to adjust the brightness
levels. However, if you still encounter unexpected problems, such
as transient flashes of reflected sun, video alerts help you identify
them.</p>
<p>In the Field Monitor, video alerts appear as broad white
bands in the waveform wherever brightness exceeds a specified level,
area, and duration. To set these parameters, see <a href="WS52ACC65C-3B4F-4474-820C-153B936CCACB.html">Adjust or disable alerts</a>.</p>

sound that aren’t loud enough to cause audio clipping, but are likely
to create unpleasant and possibly unusable audio. A plosive sound
at the beginning or end of a word is a common source of such pops.
A slight adjustment in the position of a microphone often reduces
this problem.</p>
<p>In the Field Monitor, popping alerts appear
as yellow tick marks above and below the centerline of the audio
waveform. </p>

the amplitude range of the current audio bit depth. Sometimes, brief
audio clippings are not audible on location, but they produce distortions
that can cause problems when editing. To avoid clipping, see <a href="WS5b3ccc516d4fbf351e63e3d117cbc98bab-7fd2.html">Set audio levels</a>.</p>
<p>In the Audio panel, clipping
alerts appear as red lines&#160;<img src="images/audio_clipping_alert_icon.png" /> at
the top of the meters. In the Field Monitor, they appear as bright
red tick marks at the extreme top and bottom of the waveform. </p>

potential video and audio issues they identify.</p>

Next Alert&#160;<img src="images/next_alert_icon.png" /> button.<p>OnLocation
shuttles the clip to the alert.</p>

genuine problems, adjust alert thresholds. If video or audio quality
isn’t critical for a particular project and you find alerts distracting,
disable them.</p>

Preferences (Mac&#160;OS).</p>
