Terms used in this Document:
----------------------------

GameDirPath:
This refers to the full path to the folder where Aliens versus
Predator 2 ["AVP2"] is installed. By default AVP2 is installed
to "c:\Program Files\Fox\Aliens vs. Predator 2". However since
you may have changed this, paths will be defined in terms of
GameDirPath (e.g., GameDirPath\Tools is where the Tools are
    installed).

Overview:
---------

What's included in AVP2 Tools Update 2:

- New and updated modelling plug-ins:

    New Maya plug-ins:
      IMFLithDTX.dll
        Place in Maya's \bin\plugins\image folder. This plug-in
allows the use of AVP2's .dtx textures natively in Maya.
This plug-in is still in the early stages of development
        and tweaking.
      LithTechModelExportOptions.mel
Place in Maya's \Scripts\Others folder. This script is used
in conjunction with the model exporter for Maya.

    Updated Maya plug-ins:
      LithTechWorldExportOptions.mel,
      LithTechWorldImportOptions.mel
Place in Maya's \Scripts\Others folder. The scripts are
used in conjunction with the exporters for Maya.
      MayaModelExport30.mll, MayaModelExport40.mll
Place in Maya's \bin\plugins folder. These files replace
the old "LithMayaExport.mll" exporter. The .lta files they
generate may be loaded in Talon ModelEdit. The two versions
correspond to the two supported versions of Maya.
      MayaWorldExport30.mll, MayaWorldExport40.mll
Place in Maya's \bin\plugins folder. The .lta files these
exporters generate may be loaded in Talon DEdit. The two
numbered versions correspond to the two supported versions
        of Maya.

    New 3DSMax plug-ins:
      MaxDTXLoader30.bmi, MaxDTXLoader40.bmi
Place in Max's \plugins folder. These plug-ins allow the
use of AVP2's .dtx textures natively in Max. The two
numbered versions correspond to the two supported versions
        of 3DSMax.
      MaxModelExport30.dle, MaxModelExport40.dle
Place in Max's \plugins folder. These plug-ins allows you
to export models as .lta files for use in Talon ModelEdit.
The two numbered versions correspond to the two supported
        versions of 3DSMax.

    Updated 3DSMax plug-ins:
      MaxWorldExport30.dle, MaxWorldExport40.dle,
      MaxWorldImport30.dle, MaxWorldImport40.dle
Place in Max's \plugins folder. These are updated exporters
and importers for Talon DEdit-compatible .lta files. The
two numbered versions of each file correspond to the two
        supported versions of 3DSMax.

- Added GameDirPath\AVP2\Worlds\SinglePlayer\Switches.ed, a level
containing most of the switches (door buttons, levers, hackable
consoles, etc) used in the game, set up for relatively easy copying
and pasting into your levels. Make sure you check the "Ignore
Hidden" box in the processor settings window before starting the
process if you want to process the level to see all the switches
together.

From Tools Update 1:

Tools Update 2 also contains Tools Update 1, which added the
  following:

- Updated GameDirPath\Tools\DEdit.exe to "Talon" version. This
version can import .lta files, which are used in the process of
converting geometry made in several popular 3D modeling programs
into AVP2 levels. Use the "File-->Import World..." menu command to
add an .lta to your level (you must have a level open first). See
the "terrain_tutorial.doc" file in the Docs folder for more on
working with .lta files.

- Updated GameDirPath\Tools\ModelEdit.exe to "Talon" version. As
with DEdit for Talon, this version of ModelEdit can import .lta
files. Use the "File-->Load" menu command to load an .lta file, or
use the "File-->Import" command to add an .lta to a model you've
loaded.

- Added a tutorial in creating and using dynamic lights to create
such effects as rotating fan shadows and destructible lights.
Included are:
    GameDirPath\Tools\Docs\DynamicLights.doc:
      tutorial documentation
    GameDirPath\AVP2\Worlds\SinglePlayer\DynamicLights.ed:
      prepared tutorial level

- Added GameDirPath\AVP2\Worlds\SinglePlayer\Vehicles.ed, a sample
level containing vehicle prefabs used in the single-player game,
including among others the Betty, the Verloc, the Marine dropship,
a truck and a keyframed APC with live turrets, as well as an outer
space set. The level is broken up into three separate rooms, use
the "cheat mpcanthurtme" and "cheat mpsixthsense" cheat codes to
clip between the areas.

- Added GameDirPath\Tools\Docs\avp2_ai_notes.doc, a detailed
document on AVP2 AI commands and functions.

- Added GameDirPath\Tools\Docs\avp2_trigger_notes.doc, covering
beginning and advanced use of trigger messages for scripted events.

- Added GameDirPath\Tools\Docs\custom_level.txt, a document
describing how to get levels to show up in the "Single Player-->
Custom Level" game menu.

- Updated documentation:

    GameDirPath\Tools\Docs\Contents.htm:
Removed NOLF reference from the html title.
    GameDirPath\Tools\Docs\DEdit.htm:
Noted case sensitivity of the "WorldName" command parameter.
Removed NOLF reference from the html title.
    GameDirPath\Tools\Docs\ModelEdit.htm:
Removed NOLF reference from the html title.
Fixed a typo in the first sentence.
    GameDirPath\Tools\Docs\Processor-Settings.txt:
Added a note about the use of the "-nosnapnocsg" processor
      option in the sample levels.

Installation Notes:
-------------------

You must have the AVP2 Tools installed in order to install AVP2
Tools Update 2. Run the self-extracting executable file and
follow the prompts to install the update. If you do not already
have the AVP2 Tools, you can download them from the game's
official web site at http://avp2.sierra.com.

Tools Update 2 contains all the updates from Tools Update 1, so
you do not have to install Update 1 before Update 2. Update 2
will update your files correctly if you are running the original
Tools or the Update 1 tools.

Importing Tips:
---------------

After importing an .lta into Talon DEdit, the imported geometry
will be in Jupiter format and won't have the correct Property
flags. To update the imported geometry, save the world, close it,
re-open it, and hit "Yes" when prompted to update objects: your
imported geometry should now have correct Property flags.
