Chapter 2: Nightfall Town
Randell stepped out of the train while carrying two of his large bags, with the train leaving 5 minutes in after letting a few passengers out of the entrance.
The train station was crowded, so crowded in fact that he had to squeeze through the crowd just to get around. But Mhyv on the other hand doesn’t have this problem as he passed through the crowd as if he was smoke.
* Bump! *
“ Hey! Watch it! “
“ Sorry sir “
* Bump *
“ Oh! “
“ S-sorry! “
‘ Damn this place… “
It took them a while to navigate throughout the entire train station. But once he reached the top surface, the fresh town breeze and the bright light of the sun finally showed themselves to Randell in full display. Finally giving him a much wider space for him to breathe in relief.
“ Phew… finally… “
“ Hey, wanna grab some burgers while we’re here? “
“ Mhyv we literally ate an hour ago. “
“ Oh right…
right…
but can we at least have a tinsy winsy snack break? “
“ Hahahahaha!

“ Why not!? “
“ Look I'm not made of money, my savings is enough to sustain us for about a day and a half.
Luckily for us mom has a few friends who work in Nightfall Town, so unless I finally have a part-time job I'm not treating you today “
“ You're mean… “
“ It's called being financially responsible “
Mhyv crosses his six arms and turns his head away from Randell, sulking while following him on the streets.
Randell just rolls his eyes as he stops at a bench and whips out his phone from his pocket.
“ What are you doing? “
“ Trying to find Nightfall Academy.
I want to explore the academy a little bit since the Entrance Test is within three days. “
“ And you're finding the academy on your phone? “
“ EagleMaps baby~ “
“ Odd… never see you use that before? “
“ Well me too…
But my friends did teach me how to use it! So it's safe to say that I can handle this on my own- “
* Blip! *
“ Low battery, shutting down “
“ …. “
‘ Drats… ‘
With no available outlets nearby, Randell sighs heavily as this means that using an online map was no longer an option.
“ What now?... “
“ I guess we can only ask the locals “
The two leave the bench as they walk around the town asking a few beastkin some direction.
Others outright refuse to comply, with the most common reply from them is to use EagleMaps, find another beastkin to bother, or that they're busy.
But there were some beastkin who were willing to give them some direction, giving him two options which is to find a street called St Joule's or to an alleyway near a street called Applebreacket.
The alleyway one is a shortcut, taking him only a few minutes to reach the academy while taking ST Joules will take him hours to reach.
So wanting to take the fastest route, he asked a few more beastkin where he could find Applebreacket. Causing him to walk around in circles until he manages to spot a sign on a lamp post saying Applebreacket.
The street is filled with all kinds of food related establishments, notably cafes and restaurants as Mhyv drools at the sight of beastkin enjoying their meals from either large windows or eating outside of the building.
“ Mhyv… “
“ Oh sorry I'm sorry, if only you would have treated me sooner I wouldn't be like this. “
“ If you're really that hungry, why can't you just eat some rocks or something “
“ Randell, no one likes eating rocks.
But if you like maybe you could buy me some burgers then I'll consider eating ro-“
“ Not gonna happen. “
“ Ugh… “
“ Look just wait until dinner okay, I'll buy you two burgers if you don't think about your stomach for an entire day “
“ Make it six “

“ Hmmm…

‘ Phew… good thing I managed to shut him up… now for the alley… ‘
Randell turned his gaze away from Mhyv to look at an alleyway just beside them. An empty, dim, and cold place with only small traces of trash cans and garbage scattered across the ground.
Yet despite its presentation, Randell still walks inside without a care in the world. Causing his steps to echo within the tight sealed walls.
The entrance that they took slowly shrinks.
Getting smaller and smaller until the last bit of sunlight fades.
Randell kept walking to a straight path, ignoring other routes while humming in a cheerful tone to lighten up the silent atmosphere.
‘ Okay, they said to just wander around since each direction will lead me to a sign that says Molly's Alley regardless.
After that, turn to the left of Molly's Alley, walk straight which will lead me outside of the alleyway, and once I'm outside they said that if I see a large building from a distance that's where Nightfall Academy is located…
Wonder what the heck is Molly’s Alley? ‘

“ What is it Mhyv? “
Mhyv didn't respond, instead he moved his fingers to point at a distance. Randell follows as he sees a figure leaning against a wall.
The figure was a wolf beastkin with silver fur, wearing a phantom blue tank top, black leather pants, and a blood stained blue cotton jacket wrapped around his shoulders.
Randell even notices a sheath on his waist and a drawn out sword which he carries using his limping left arm
