Chapter 16: A Walk To The Mall
Randell wakes up and sees a white wall, laying on the bed for a moment, blinking slowly, before rolling over to face the room.
‘ …
Huh?... ‘
Both beds on Jasper and Amori's side are empty, with the only presence left was Mhyv who was standing on the footboard of the bed with his arms folded and the particular expression of someone who had been waiting for an unreasonable amount of time and wanted that fact acknowledged.
The moment Randell's eyes open fully, Mhyv jumps out of the footboard and flies next to Randell, dropping a small yellow sticky note that sways slowly to the air. Landing right on top of Randell's forehead.
“ What in the- “
" It's for you ”
“ Ngh… “
Finding the strength to take the note out of his forehead, he takes a good look at it and reads the following words.
‘ Hey Randell, we'll be at the Mess Hall this morning. Help yourself to the pizza and soda in the fridge, star sign Amori…
Oh, they're just having breakfast ‘
Randell just sets the note aside, letting him spread his arms on Amori's bed as he takes only a couple of seconds to nap.
‘ It's nice that he lets me sleep on the bed with him and allows me to eat some pizza.
But I feel like I'm freeloading…
Maybe I should leave this room for a bit to get some fresh air ‘

A couple of minutes passed as Randell forces himself to wake up out of bed and move towards the mini fridge. Taking out three slices of pizza and a large bottle to drink.
Three slices went into the microwave. Two came back out and immediately went to Mhyv, who accepted them with the air of someone receiving far less than they deserved.
While Randell ate his one slice standing up, leaning against the mini fridge while chugging the soda straight down his mouth, trying not to think about how good a second slice would be.
“ Gulp gulp… phew~
Burp! “
‘ ugh… I feel like a slob… ‘
Mhyv tapped on Randell's shoulder, causing him to turn and see Mhyv's freakishly wide eyes, his eyelids stretching so wide that he can actually see his eye sockets.
Empty and circular, with his two pairs of white eyeballs floating at the midst of its darkness.
“ …
What are you doing… “
“ Hehe I've been practicing my puppy eyes for awhile~
Is it working? “
“ Fuck no. “
“ Come on~ don't you think my pure white eyes compels you to give me the entire soda bottle~ “
“ Well if you wanted the soda then you should have just asked “
He said while handling Mhyv the entire soda bottle.
Mhyv was ecstatic that Randell just gave the bottle away that he just yanked it away and swallowed the entire bottle within seconds, causing his neck to expand to accommodate the bottle's sheer shape and size before it finally slid down to his stomach.
“ Gulp!
Mmm~ “
‘ Well that was a quick meal. ‘
He wanted to have more but he refrains from doing so, deciding to save his remaining cash for lunch and dinner.
But he had to budget it off for about two days.
With more free time at their hands than he initially expected, he turns to look at Mhyv and ask.
“ Hey, you wouldn't mind if you eat one meal for a couple of days would you? “
“ Why? “
“ I want to budget off my remaining cash until the Entrance Test “
“ Oh… “
Mhyv was grumpy upon hearing those words coming from Randell's mouth.
“ Don't look at me like that, I'm not made of money you know.
Just endure it for a couple of days until I pass.“
“ Ugh, fine… “
“ So while here, what do you want to do for today? “
“ Gasp! “
“ Besides eating out. “
“ ….
Sigh…
Well while you were asleep I asked my friends from the other side about what happened to the Labyrinth Barrier yesterday. “
“ Wait, friends?
How did you manage to communicate with them? “
“ I have my methods~
Anyways, the one who caused the labyrinth barrier to break is some parasitic flower that grows within many labyrinth's.
No one has discovered it yet, but basically it's a new type of flower that can move from the interior of labyrinths to the surface in order to shoot a seed in any living being in their flesh.
To which that seed then grows and infects the brain that causes them to have an impulse of wanting to destroy devices that activate Labyrinth Barriers. “
“ W-what!?
Y-your kidding… right? “
“ No I'm not.
But don't worry, again it's a relatively new species of flowers based on what they told me, and they have only grown in the open labyrinth in this town's forest. “
“ S-should we report this to the authorities? “
“ And how exactly are you going to say it? Those beastkin will never believe a word of what you say unless you have proof.
Just let them find it on their own, heck they’re already investigating what caused the labyrinth barrier to break anyways so it won't take long for them to discover these flowers.
For now let's just take care of the remaining ones that's still present to this day. “
