Drumstick Position

In this position, you will hold the pencil with the index finger and the thumb, using the other fingers for stability. Don’t hold the pencil too tightly as this will minimize the freedom your pencil to create a variety of marks. This position is commonly used for adding details with shading and a variety of strokes. When drawing in a large scale, this position is also widely used.
