Decided I'd finally make a blog post about this after all this time as it kinda got alittle tiring re explaining things
So here it is :3

The best way to describe D.I.D is that the original personality has been fratured
or more or less replaced in some cases the original personalitly remains other times their there but don't host any more,and some times they fuse with another

the personalities in a system are usually refered to as alters,though some systems may use different terms
each 'alter' usually has a name,and some kind of form,this form can be as simple as a distinct voice,or as complext as a full body,
as for the forms alters can take some tend to take non human forms in some systems


how alters actually get created can be kinda complecated,and it depends on the system but there a few trends that we've noticed with ourselves and systems we've met
it usually comes from some kind of trama resulting in a split creating a alter based on some part of who ever was hosting at the time
or some kind of fixation,alters like this tend to be known as fictives,though like most things,the name may vary
some times fictives can be created from a character in a book or a show,or sometimes from some kind of passion project,like a OC,this has happened to us once,and I don't intend to let it repeat

along with the info on alters I though I might as well provide some info on some common terms
little a child like alter,though how child like depends on the alter,and restricting them to child like stuff can cause issues,personally I try to avoid overthinking it
hosting the act of a alter controling the body
co-hosting, basicly like being a passager in a car,you can see what the host is doing but you can't really directly control them,other then twiching a limb or giving directions
switching the act of a alter taking over as host
mindspace more or less a shared space for all the alters,different systems have different levels of complexity in their mindspace,with some nearly lacking one all together
