As augmented reality, virtual reality, and mixed reality applications proliferated it became clear that an umbrella term was needed for these related spacial interactive technologies, and XR began entering popular use among developers.

Developments

In 2019 Audi experimented with XR technology as both in car entertainment and as a motion sickness treatment.[1]
